Reporting a problem

The more of this you can include, the faster it gets fixed:

• Your Chrome version (chrome://settings/help) and your operating system.
• The address of the page you were watching, if you are comfortable sharing it, and whether you watched the whole page, one part of it, or the price and stock.
• The message Pagewatch showed, word for word, or a screenshot of the dashboard.

Getting started

Where is the Pagewatch button?

Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome’s toolbar and pin Pagewatch, so its button is always visible. Then open a page you want to follow and click it.

Whole page, a part, or price & stock?

• Price & stock appears on most shop pages. It ignores everything else on the page, so it only alerts you when the price or availability changes.
• Pick a part lets you click the exact area you care about, such as a list of job posts or a timetable.
• Whole page alerts you about any text change — including ads, dates and “5 minutes ago” labels, so it can be noisy.

Common questions

“Pagewatch needs permission to read this site”

Pagewatch can only read sites you have allowed. Open the dashboard, select the page and click Allow access. You can review access for all sites in chrome://extensions → Pagewatch → Details → Site access.

“The part of the page you picked was not found”

The website probably changed its layout, so the part you picked no longer exists in the same place. Open the page, click the Pagewatch button and pick the part again, or switch that page to Whole page in its settings.

“The site showed a security check”

Some websites show a CAPTCHA or “checking your browser” page to automated visits, and Pagewatch will not try to get around it. Open the page yourself once in Chrome; if the check passes, Pagewatch can often read the page afterwards. Some sites, such as Amazon, block this kind of checking entirely.

A window briefly appears in my taskbar

Some websites only show their content after running JavaScript. Pagewatch reads those pages in a minimized background window and closes it straight away. Pages like this are checked at most every 15 minutes. If you don’t need it for a page, set Read the page to Fast in that page’s settings.

I get too many alerts

Watch one part of the page, or the price & stock, instead of the whole page. You can also check less often, or turn desktop notifications off in Settings and just look at the dashboard.

How do I check a page every few seconds?

With Pagewatch Pro, set a page to check as often as every 30 seconds in its settings. For a drop, restock or ticket release you know is coming, open the page in the dashboard and click Watch closely: Pagewatch checks it every 10 seconds for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour, then goes back to its normal schedule. Watch closely works on pages Pagewatch can read quickly; pages that need JavaScript are checked at most every 15 minutes.

“The site asked Pagewatch to slow down”

The website answered that it was getting too many requests. Pagewatch respects that: it waits (1 minute at first, longer if it happens again, or as long as the site asks), turns off Watch closely for that page, and then carries on. If you see this often, check that page less frequently — sites that feel hammered may block your connection or your account.

Do checks run when Chrome is closed?

No. Checks run while Chrome is open. A check that was due while Chrome was closed runs within a minute of opening it again.

Can I move my list to another computer?

Yes. In Settings, use Export list, then Import list on the other computer. The change history stays on the original computer.

Pagewatch Pro

How do I turn Pro on after buying?

Click Activate Pagewatch Pro on the screen shown right after you pay. Pagewatch activates itself — there is nothing to copy and no account to create. Closed that screen? The same button is in your receipt email; open it on the computer where you use Pagewatch.

You can also do it by hand: copy the license key from the receipt email, open Pagewatch Settings → Plan, paste it and click Activate. Can’t find the email? Write to us with the address you used to buy.

“Already active on the maximum number of computers”

A Pro key works on up to 3 computers at once. On a computer you no longer use, open Pagewatch Settings and click Remove from this computer, then activate the key on the new one. If the old computer is gone, email us and we will free the activation.

I want a refund

Email us with your order number from the receipt. Refunds are processed through Lemon Squeezy, back to the payment method you used. When a refund goes through, Pro switches off in Pagewatch within a few days; your watched pages are kept.
